A polypropylene (PP) speaker is a type of speaker made from a polymer with a specific gravity of 0.92. The material is highly resistant to tearing and scuffing, and has a high-quality, consistent thickness. These speakers are usually made with a thick gauge PP sheet, but a thinner gauge is also available. Because of its softness, PP is a good choice for subwoofers, midrange speakers, and high-power subwoofers.

A plastic speaker is also more durable than a wooden one, which makes it an excellent option for portable speakers. However, there are some disadvantages to using plastic for a speaker. Although wood is a better material for acoustic performance, it is also heavier and more complicated to recycle, which means it's more expensive and less practical for travel. A wooden speaker enclosure will be more difficult to transport, so a plastic speaker is a better option.

When designing a portable Bluetooth speaker, you have to take into account the amount of plastic used. Using a marble-effect plastic body is a good idea, but keep in mind that it contains the equivalent of 100 plastic bags. Most speakers will be made from flexible plastic, like bubble wrap and plastic bags, which UK councils do not accept for recycling. Instead, you should look for a portable wireless speaker that is made of recycled flexible plastic.
